his course will introduce students to a range of methodologies and ethical considerations of research in neuroscience and create a forum for discussion and critical thinking. The methods section of the course will include visualizing brain structures, assessing and manipulating neuronal activity, in vivo stereotaxic neurosurgery, and neuroimaging technologies. The second section will tackle ethical aspects of using neurotechnology in medical and jurisdictional settings such as modulation of the human “brain/mind”, early signs of neurological and psychiatric diseases, evidence of awareness in patients in vegetative stage, or evidence of criminal culpability.
BNS 607 Biopsychology 3 Credits

This course covers advanced concepts in cancer biology. The course begins with a focus on the cell death pathways, transformation of normal to cancer cells and subcellular changes within cancer cells, including non-coding RNA and epigenetic changes. It then covers the cancer cell environment and how cells metastasize. There is a special focus on how the immune system interacts with cancer cells. Finally, the course will present important tools for cancer research and anti-cancer drug development.
